In addition to the basically thematically open cooperation within the profile area, different thematic competence centers have been established.The aim of the centers is to focus teaching, research and transfer activities in the respective fields and to communicate these activities externally.

 

Future Mobility Center

The aim of the Future Mobility Center is to unite the interdisciplinary research activities in the field of electrified, connected and automated mobility. In addition to the technical dimension, the considerations include, in particular, the human factor as well as social, economic and ecological interactions.

Research Center Railways

The Research Center Railways (RCR) unites all three specialist disciplines of rail transport - rail vehicle technology, rail infrastructure and operation, as well as drive technology and energy supply. The aim of the interdisciplinary cooperation platform is to research and implement lightweight vehicle construction, automated and autonomous driving, digital connectivity, capacity-optimized railway operations management, as well as innovative rail drives and storage systems.

Center Air s.Pace

The Center Air s.Pace acts as a coordinating platform for the aeronautical and production engineering entities at the university location Aachen. The joint development and production implementation of environmentally friendly electric aircraft by General Aviation in an industrial and research network is intended to accelerate the breakthrough of electric mobility in aviation.
